Photos of the M104 in 2005

These are a few pictures of the M104 trailer that I acquired from a fellow Dodge enthusiast when he decided to sell off his farm and return to the mountains of North Carolina.    Knowing that I owned a military 2.5 ton truck, he called me up and we made a deal...   Since the M104 was designed to be towed by the M34 or similar deuce with single rear tires instead of the duel tires that my M35 has, the stock tires on the trailer are slightly larger (1100x20) than the ones on the towing truck that I own.   The tires and wheels have subsequently have found a home on a friend's "bobbed" deuce and the trailer is now sporting a set of 900x20 tires and wheels that match the M35 that provides the motive power.

If you have questions about any of these photos, send me an email and I'll try to provide an answer.

1 Rear quarter view showing right side of the trailer (note vertical reinforcing channels on the sides instead of tapered ones that the later M15 trailer employs).
2 Rear view with rear tailgate down.
3 Wheel and tire.   Note that the tire is 1100x20 so that it will interchange with the earlier deuces with single tires on the rear axles such as the M34.  Also note that the center of the axle hub protrudes beyond the wheel.
4 Close-up of the tread on the almost new tires.
5 Shot of the tongue showing the tie down loops (closer to the bed), lifting bars (closer to the hitch), missing landing leg, glad hand ends, intervehicular cable socket, and front gate chains.
6 Shot of the front gate on the M104 trailer, one of the major identifiers of this series...  Also, the painted over data plates...
